I'll say it right now: Streetseen will be covering the arrival of the new Nissan GT-R in great detail. This car will be epic. You heard it here first.

...and although this isn't a porn site, I must bring you these images- straight from what is arguably the world's most challenging and demand race track. Yes, I'm referring to the Nuerburgring. In Nordschleife configuration, the "green hell" features 40 right turns and 33 left turns in such a setup that even the fastest street cars (think 911 turbo, carrera gt, etc) take over seven and a half minutes to complete. Apparently, the GT-R is not be far off that pace - in stock configuration. Click (more) for StreetSeen's first official scoop on the new Godzilla.

Although this is the first time the car's been on StreetSeen, it's not the first time the car's been out in the wild. Over the past few years, Nissan has been quietly testing various prototypes while developing the car for its Fall of 2007 release... and we at StreetSeen have been following it all along.

(Above, street spotting)
(Below - it's main spottings have been in its natural habitat, the track - most often chasing, or being chased by, its target-the 997 Porsche 911)

We expect the car to carry a 3.7L Twin Turbo variant of Nissan's VQ37VHR. We expect the engine to output about 450hp and the car to weigh in the 3500lbs range.

Look for 6pot front/4pot rear 2pc cross drilled Brembo manufactured brakes under 20 inch stock wheels wrapped with Bridgestone's most advanced Potenza street tires. Nissan's ATTESA advanced all wheel drive system will also be fitted, along with active rear steering. For the first time, the GT-R will also feature an optional automatic transmission. As usual, expect a full array of telemetry and electronic aids and monitoring equipment.

Expect the car to be based on a modified version of the FM platform as used in the 2007 G, 350z, M, and FX with said modifications all being about one word: performance. Out the box, we expect this car to rival its target, the $120,000 Porsche 911. That places it well above other notable sports cars such as the BMW M3 and even C6 Corvette. Because it's the GT-R though, expect every tuner on Earth to be working on modifications for the car. And when tuned I don't think I need to explain what you should expect.

And yes, for the first time, the car will be for sale in the United States, with sales starting next Spring. We expect pricing to be base near $60,000 in the US, and exceed $80,000 in the USVI- not counting dealer markup.* Although Nissan isn't releasing any information about this car until this October's Tokyo Motor Show, you can count on StreetSeen to keep you updated.
