The crew over at m3post spotted these shots of this red M3 on the Ring. But why is it dropped on a wider track and kitted out like that?
Probably because this is the new M3 CSL....<!--more-->

This is what I like most about BMW. To most people, the 3 series is a luxury ride to cruise around in. To those that know, its a capable sports car in hiding. The M3 takes away the 'hiding part.' The CSL takes it to an all new level.
Let me put it this way. You know how its common to take out sound deadening, spare tire/tools, back seat, etc to lose weight for racing? That's what the CSL is. It wasn't just the first production BMW with a carbon roof: In the last version they used a cardboard floor for the trunk and shipped the car with Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup tires. Buyers had to sign a disclaimer stating that they understand that the car can't be driven in the cold or wet. And no, the car didn't have A/C. It's that serious. In a day and age where cars are treated as jewelry, you have to give them props for that.
So apparently, the CSL will be back. I can't wait to see what BMW comes up with. Hopefully, this time around, we'll be seeing it on this side of the world as well...
