Few things are as excellent as a homologation special, and few homologation specials are as excellent as Subaru's WRX STI. This is the latest version of the marque's iconic performance car; in addition to a host of suspension improvements, it features a return to the four-door form factor that once defined the model.

The four-door STI will accompany the five-door version into production for 2011. The model also receives updated suspension tuning — stiffer springs and sway bars front and rear as well as a lower ride height — and a host of minor trim updates. (Yes, you sharp-eyed reader, you, those are three-inch stainless exhaust tips! Good catch!) The picnic-table spoiler is claimed to eliminate lift at speed.

Good to see Subaru decided to do some upgrades on the sti...

+1 for STI sedan

I like the new look, but back in 2004 when the STI finally came to the U.S. with 300 hp it was in a league of its own. and since then there has been many improvements in everything except for power. now in 2010 with only 305 hp is not so special compare to alot of car that has keep getting more powerfull over years. example its little brother the wrx that is just as fast. I have faith that there would be a power bump to match all its other improvements. I'm hoping 350hp:thumbsup:

Impressive! I like the flared fendered look! gives any car a real agressive look.

The hatch looks the same as the old one, and it looks OK, the four door sedan...NOT SO MUCH. The ass end looks like it does not belong, front looks wussy, something just looks odd to me. The interior looks beautiful though.

This is true but you see EVO's with STI wings so really doesn't make a difference they both look good with the design...sedan looks alot better with the wider fenders than the previous model. Thats one thing that makes a subby the fenders and the stance. Seems there going the route of making them all look like Legacy's which is cool but not when you think that the Impreza is there sports sedan not luxury sedan. Hatchback still looks good and promising...nice.. still wondering when the Subaru/Toyota will be coming out cause other than STI I see the tuner crowd really looking into purchasing that model than any other model..:dunno:

But its lil brother the WRX is just shy of suspension, transmission, and diffs, brake upgrade(Subaru calipers aren't bad at all actually really good) then the price difference is right there..but rarely do you ever(I stress ever) see a platform where you have just as much torque as HP so that 305hp is more likely to see equal torque which EJ's are known for..also Subaru doesn't play when they say there very ECO savy so all this and still pass emissions in the U.S. is pretty hard as they get stricter..we both know those blocks are well capable of serious power gains its all in the aftermarket....:dunno:

this was the previous record run by an STI 7:59
the driver was Gan san who has done over 6000 laps on this track
I notice how Gan san anticipated every corner while Tonni makinen
wasn't as smooth but yet was quicker, I wonder if the 2011 STI can
go even quicker than 7:55 with Gan San at the wheel????????

just a thought

Most if not all STI trannys are hard as bull no pun intended lol. But a quick upgrade will have to spinning tires all day if of course your clutch ain't a punk...
