In a surprise move, Chrysler announced that all of its Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep products for model year 2007 and newer will receive lifetime powertrain warranties...and yes, that applies to cars already sitting on dealer lots. There are only two restrictions to the warranty: first, the owner must bring the car in to a dealer every five years for inspection. Second, the warranty is not transferrable after the car is sold. Beyond that, should anything ever go wrong with the engine/transmission/transaxle/drife shafts/drive axles, you're covered for both labor and parts. "This new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is a statement of confidence to our customers to the reliability of their powertrain. It's peace-of-mind reassurance for as long as they own the vehicle," said Steven Landry, Executive Vice President – North America, Sales and Marketing, Service and Parts, Chrysler Group.
Expect an advertising campaign for the new warranty to kick off this Firday nationwide.
