Joining the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X at the Frankfurt motor show will be the new Subaru Impreza WRX STi, which was recently spotted by WorldCarFans on the 'ring in Germany, undergoing high speed testing...<!--more-->
We expect the new STi to be powered by a 2.5L boxer engine, turbocharged to approximately 300hp, and mated to a traditional 6 speed manual transmission. Unlike the Evolution X, we do not anticipate an automatic transmission although it could definitely be in the cards for a later release.* Beyond the engine, we look for the car to ride on the new WRX platform with numerous performance tweaks including Brembo-sourced brakes, light weight alloy wheels, and an improved All Wheel Drive system. Although a hatch was spotted on the 'ring, we expect a sedan to be offered in the US market when the car hits dealers next year...
