I am not going to provide a slant on Transformers the movie (at least not yet). However, I do recommend that you all go and check it out. That said, read on to catch a glimpse of the vehicles that make the movie come alive.<!--more-->
<strong> *Optimus Prime</strong> (Peterbilt truck): The powerful and wise leader of the Autobots.
<img src="http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/Duttyman_photos/Transformers/optimus_prime.jpg" height="448" width="332" />
History
In the early part of the 20th century, Tacoma, Washington plywood manufacturer and lumber entrepreneur T.A. Peterman was faced with a lumber logistics problem. He couldn't get freshly felled logs from the forest to his lumber mill quickly, or efficiently. In order to develop forest assets, it would be necessary to improve upon the contrived methods of the day: floating logs down river, or the use of steam tractors, and even horse teams. Peterman knew that if he could develop the then nascent automobile technology and build trucks, he could go a long way towards solving his problem.
<img src="http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/Duttyman_photos/Transformers/RealOptimusTruck.jpg" height="360" width="480" />
To this end, he was rebuilding surplus army trucks, improving the technology with each successive vehicle. Shortly thereafter, he purchased the assets of Fageol Motors of Oakland, California in 1938 in order to supplement his need for a custom built logging truck chassis. Fageol had gone into receivership in 1932. By 1938, the Great Depression had driven the value of the assets to nearly zero. Peterman acquired the defunct truck manufacturer and began to produce customized chain-drive trucks for exclusive use by his timber concern. In 1939, he began to sell his trucks to the public. T. A. Peterman died in 1945. His wife Ida, sold the company to seven individuals within the organization (management) less the land. They expanded it into a serious producer of heavy-duty trucks.

<strong>Popular Models</strong>
Peterbilt model numbers traditionally start with a '2' for single axle and tag axle models, and with a '3' for dual drive models. Peterbilt eliminated this distinction in the late 1970s.

The Chevrolet Kodiak (and similar GMC Topkick and Isuzu H-Series) is a line of medium-duty trucks from General Motors. It is commonly used as a basis for work trucks, cargo haulers, dump trucks, and similar vehicles which require powerful torque, high GVWR, and high towing capacity. There are aftermarket coachbuilders that buid them as pickup trucks and commercial trucks for consumers. The primary competition for the Kodiak/Topkick line is the Ford Super Duty line, though the International CXT competes with it in the consumer world.

It is clearly aimed at the International RXT, also introduced there, with a DVD-based navigation system and powerful audio system. Pricing begins at $70,000. Saleen has been modifying Mustangs since the late 80's, working with body and performance modification. The Current Mustang based model they have is the 2007 Saleen S281 from the 5th generation Mustang. The S281 have different versions like the S281 SC, supercharged 465 hp and the S281 Extreme in which they have replaced the Ford engine with a Saleen-built V8 engine increasing the power to 550 hp (410 kW).

<img src="http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/Duttyman_photos/Transformers/10-112.jpg" height="190" width="450" />
The Buffalo mine protected vehicle built by Force Protection Inc is based on the successful South African Casspir mine-protected vehicle. The United States currently has a limited number of Buffaloes in service, with an order for 36 more, at a cost of $10 million.
While the Casspir is a four wheeled vehicle, the Buffalo has six wheels. They are also fitted with a large articulated arm, used for ordnance disposal. Both vehicles incorporate a "V" shaped monohull chassis that directs the force of the blast away from the occupants.
Iraqi insurgents have nicknamed it "the claw", for its claw like scoop at the end of its telescopic arm. So effective is it at countering IEDs that graffiti has appeared in different areas with messages such as "Kill the Claw !!" written in Arabic.

<strong>*Barricade </strong>(Saleen-modified Ford Mustang police car) : The Decepticon hunter who masquerades in society as a symbol of the law.

<strong>*Bonecrusher</strong> (Buffalo H Mine-Protected vehicle): A Decepticon warrior who hates all others. He is only subservient to Megatron.
<img src="http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w47/Duttyman_photos/Transformers/10-112.jpg" height="190" width="450" />

Sikorsky HH-53 "Super Jolly Green Giant" is a USAF version of the CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter for long-range combat search and rescue (CSAR) helicopters. It was developed to replace the HH-3 "Jolly Green Giant"". The HH-53s were later upgraded as MH-53 Pave Low series

<strong>*Finally</strong>, honorable mention goes to <strong>Frenzy</strong>. This little Decepticon is not a vehicle but he is badass. He turns into a GPX 2-speaker CD player and a cell phone. His primary purpose is recon and sabotage.
