Over the last week, Lexus has continued testing its new supercar on the 'Ring in Germany.

The car, nearing production form, carries a V10 engine outputting over 500hp from less than 5.0 liters of displacement. It features a front engine/rear radiator design along with carbon-based Brembo brakes and an active rear wing, all optimizing high speed performance. Although World Car Fans claims there's little covering here- there really is. The real body panels are actually cleverly hidden by fake panels mounted on top. Despite that, you can easily make out the car's overall design as well as many of its details.

Although Lexus is being very tight lipped regarding the car's release, it's already been shown multiple times in prototype form at recent auto shows and has been seeing extensive track time (for a video courtesy of Edmunds, click here). In light of this, we expect a production announcement toward the end of this year, most likely at the Tokyo Motor Show this October.

With the LF-A joining ranks with the likes of the IS-F, Z, GT-R, Evo, and STi, it must be said: after an extended absense since the late 90s....the Japanese sports cars are back.
