The R34 was an amazing car... but near the top of R34 production were the Nur models- which few on this side of the world know about.
By my estimates it appears that about a thousand were made.

All GT-R R34s come with the legendary rb26dett twin turbo straight six engine.
As is well known, that engine is a near-epic platform for performance.
But, not all RB26DETTs are built the same. Nismo actually released a set of N1 racing-engine modified RB26DETTs...strictly for Nur model GT-Rs.

The engine features a number of N1 modifications including a reinforced cylinder block, N1 pistons, N1 piston rings, N1 connecting rods, an N1 oil pump, an N1 water pump and an N1 exhaust manifold, among other modifications- including twin ball bearing metal turbochargers which are stronger than the 'normal' R34 GT-R ceramic turbos. In short, the engine is thoroughly built, not only to be more powerful and reliable, but also more potent....

After doing all of that work, Nissan rated the engine at the same 276hp that they rated all other R34 GT-Rs at. In reality, the engine was, shall we say, a bit more powerful than that, stock...

This is how Nissan discontinued the R34, with V-Spec II Nur and M-Spec Nur variants...which entered production in February of 2002.

For eager GT-R fans, the excitement started in January 1999 when the new R34 hit dealers in Japan.

For this model RB26DETT saw light revisions, externally receiving a red valvecover. The car became shorter with the wheels pushed out further than before. The R34 base models came with the same legendary ATTESA-ETS all wheel drive system that the R33, while V-Spec R34s received a more performance tuned ATTESA ETS Pro system. V-Spec models also received a more performance oriented suspension setup that among other things, lowered the ride height of the car. Carbon Fiber lined the bottom of the rear of V-Spec models, following a plastic front air diffuser, which together form a channel for air to travel under the car.

So today, I bring you a V-Spec GT-R. Thoroughly modified of course.

that list must be conservative because those aren't Michelin Pilot Sport tires. those are Michelin PS2s. :sick:

I've talked about the V-Spec models. Also V-Spec II Nur models.
But what about V-Spec II models?

The V-Spec II models were released in August 2000. They feature an even more agressive suspension setup vs the V-Spec models and also come standard with carbon fiber hoods. These cars also received a minor interior revision, darkening the color of the console and interior. These changes would later be applied to the remainder of the GT-R range.
