From what I understand -darksideracer correct me if im wrong- it's a pretty big drift event every year at the Ebisu circuit in Tokyo/Japan. The 2009 event is coming in a couple weeks. Here's a vid from last year...

LOL you might catch a hole and flip your car...our roads here suck for drifting..none of them are leveled and I mean none of them...thats more dangerous to drift here than during rush hour in downtown Miami..:rofl: what needs to be done is a built course track here on island...it could be as big as luguna seca(thats my favorite track..I know that thing blind folded thank you GT)

^^^ Puerto Rico has one..yeah its next to a land fill but so what they can drive there cars every weekend..do time attacks and run very high HP and TQ cars there plus the numbers of drag tracks but we need a track....

i think it would be a sick idea if members of streetseen could carry over there cars to PR for a weekend or so and do some drifting or circuit racing on a real track... shyt u could even get ur car dynoed and find out exactly how much horsepower u makin to the wheel, instead of sayin "well it feel like 500 o saw"... lol... sick vid btw...

well not really! look at all those corollas.....they have about 120hp to 140hp and they were doing pretty good in the video. but having more power would help plus you don't have to rev the motor too high to break the tires loose.

beleiver you me my car has enough power to hold an AWD drift..and like TC said you see drifting in bone stock K24 240sx's so it can be done and those are putting the same power to the wheels that the corollas do its all in your friendly e-brake...not everyone can loose traction easy like you they have to work for it...:rofl:

Yeah power is not a big factor when you are learning how to drift. Technique is more important and having a 2way lsd or a welded differential. Most people think that you simply turn and then pull the e-brake.That may work on a wet surface or ice. On dry pavement moving the weight off of the rear tires is critical to a consistent drift. So the technique should go as follows as you enter turn lets say in 3rd gear clutch in and tap the brake just a little 1st, then pull the e-brake. By stepping on the brake you unload the weight off the rear suspension which in-turn helps with the lost of traction in the rear. Oh yeah for all you crazy cruzan that think you can drift a fwd car. I will hear stories about you hitting that nice Mahogany Tree on the side of the road. Fwd cars have issues with under-steering. Which in a rwd car you are inducing Over-steer,and your driven tires and steering tires are separate. On a fwd car driven tires and the steering tires are the same.So once you induce an over steer pulling the e-brake fwd car is pulling the car through the drift vs pushing through the drift like a rwd car. Then which at any point during counter-steering the your front tires get traction:eek: Front tires will try to pull the car in the direction of the counter-steer..

that's cool but it is not the same thing...beside he is slowing down in the turns he can't maintain sped or even accelerate dragging the rear wheels like that.don't get me wrong...he still got skills.

You know that video is pretty old. I thought about posting that video too,but I didn't really think one odd ball was enough of an argument to post it. Also fwd cars can't clutch kick. You are limited to only using the e-brake to initiate drifts. I love using clutch kick more than the e-brake at times.Keep in mind that particular civic had a lot suspension work done to it just to drift consistently. If you drive a 240sx or ae86,or pretty much any rwd car lsd or welded differential can yield better results than that civic. Fwd drifting is like ice skating uphill:ugh: yeah it takes mads skills to do it... But is it the most efficient way to ice skate.

Not sure if any of you guys seen the drift bible. Notice that the s14 that the dori-king drifting has very basic suspension upgrades.

I do love AWD I'm just saying its cool to think I can do it or it can be done you have to learn the right way rather than have power at the wheels..having more power than your capable of handling as a novice drifter can get you into some serious trouble..and tisk tisk on you REDBULL  I laready cussed you for that.

Yeah I don't know much about AWD drifting, but you probably use similar techniques to rwd cars. During the winters months I some times do a little ice racing. So maybe you can practice awd drifting on a rainy day. Or wet concrete is always easy to slide on;)...

Here video of a audi tt on the local ice track in alaska...
