Anyone had first hand experience of frame sliders actually working and doing its job in reducing the damage done to the bike when layed down?

They work!!! that’s the first thing I bought for my bike. I don't trust the aluminum ones they tend to break off and possibly causing damage to the frame, I preferred the hard plastic type, they grind down like an eraser on a pencil as bike slides and helps slow it down. I've seen a few bikes survive with only a broken mirror and missing foot peg.

Thanks for the information. I just bought a set of Carbon Fiber ones.... Expensive and I don't know if I should return them for something else or keep em!

frame sliders are good race rails are better..frame sliders on hard impact can bend the frame or damage them as much as they protect them....race rails are a wider contact point....but not as wide as stunting cage's

Vizuki is right i have seen the aluminum one just brake of because the metal dose not give or flex. But be aware that what you have there can very well be the same thing. What they tend to do is give you a carbon fiber look more than function. Meaning it will have carbon fiber warped over an aluminum pipe so if ever needed it will act the same way as the aluminum would. I have seen the poly ones in action and they worked as good as could be expected they due give a little and will grind away just enough not to cause damage else where. Granted they are not as nice looking as yours....
