Hopefully it opens up before I come there. Otherwise I'd just leave the Mustang in the States.

leave dat shyt closed, and only when they can get a frigin return lane and pave the ENTIRE area... (from entrance to quatermile) then they should consider reopening to the public... Yes, i know some of us want it back more than others, but lets face the truth... if it opens without these repairs, the talk of getting a return lane and paving the roads will start... but like last time... thats all they'll ever be... gossip... i jus hope they improve on 'something'...

How was yall getting the cars back if there was no return lane? Put in reverse and drive it backwards all the way down?

Damn. I should prob still bring my set of slicks just in case.

I can usually hook up pretty good with my Drag Radials in Atco NJ and Ennis Texas. And thats with a 3500rpm Drop.

Let’s see what happens ,,,because even with all that if you have poor management and no support for the imports we still out racing in the streets...

True that! I feel there is too much focus on the "big cars" and not enogh on the street cars. I mean lets fece the facts yea we like to see the big cars dem run cuz they aint no joke but ALOT of ppl go to see the street cars run. Most if not all of US have cars we drive on street and also race on the track, but we only get like 5 mins. at a time, while they holdin up the track for like 30-45. If not they should try doin something like BATTLE of the IMPORTS, or friday night races for street cars.

some of the other guys- who have imports that actually race, can talk about this better... but basically the consensus feeling i get is that the track isnt very friendly toward imports. if you try to get parking areas, time to do stuff, whatever... they just dont care and will blow you off. i think thats partly because the people that run the track, by and large (and im not talking about the people in the timing tower), arent really import fans. nothings wrong with that, but i guess they also feel imports are slow, the drivers are young, have no money, attract little attention and therefore create little value, and generally they just dont matter.

having said that, id submit that its true for nearly all street cars- import or domestic. the emphasis at the track is on race cars...cars that are trailered there and are full out race cars. i guess the feeling is that those are real cars, much faster, and attract larger amounts of money and attention. i think a mustang or camaro might get treated a bit better but it wont be worlds better unless of course you know someone running things out there.

thats not to say they hate imports...i mean they definitely do allow them and even make time for them.. but there's just a disparity in treatment.

Hey StreetRX7! Have you ever heard of the "True Street" compition? They did it once in Jersey and its big in Texas.

The competition is based on how Streetable the car is. Not just how fast it goes down the track or how much power it puts up.

There are a set of 5 tasks that rate each car. Each judge has a specific task.

1) Audio
- Rated on how the audio system in the car is. From stock to aftermarket.

2) Power
- Cars are put on the dyno to find Horsepower and Torque numbers. All are done in RWHP RWTQ of course (Rear Wheel Horsepower, Rear Wheel Torque)

3) Driveabilty
- Judges then get in the car and assess how the car drives in normal road conditions. Alot of fast NHRA Legal Track cars do poorly in this compition due to roll cage requirments and A/C Deletes. The comfort of the seats, the restraint system, does the A/C Blow Cold air comfortably... All these take in affect.

4) Intieor Extieor design.
- How does the overall body look. Aftermarket accessories.... etc

5) Finally the Quater Mile test.
- Fastest out of three runs will be the time. Also taken into consideration is consitancy.

So you see in these events, even the slowest car can still win the competition. I've entered a similar competition once in Dallas and was giged off a few points for having no working A/C..... So now I've put my A/C back in the car.

cars that are trailered there and are full out race cars. .

IMO...... Race cars that are trailored....... Ehhh.... Yea they are Race cars but shoot..... Street cars that are both Fast on the Track and good on the street are where its at!

My car will make a little over 500rwhp by the end of the year without the spray... Enough to run the car deep into the 11s which rivals some cars trailored to the track.

In Texas, yes many people come to see the Pro Stock, Funny Cars, Rennegades, etc...... but the majority of the people want to see the street cars. People that work hard from 9-5 saving up dollar by dollar to build our dream car.

Ennis track used to be like that.... The crowd was more towards the "RACE CAR" genre.... but as the Car Clubs started coming in with larger numbers, it attracted more and more of a crowd.

I notice things change when people travel in packs. Race cars are trailored individually in there trailors with a pit crew and stuff....

Car Clubs come in the dozens with supporters and people that just enjoy the thrill of motorsports....

Also, alot of Car Performance Shops here know that the majority of the people that modify their cars are drivers like you and me.... We don't have the money to start our own race team with a fully built NHRA Spec Drag Car with a trailor and all the other goodies.... NO! We are everday people that want to make our car specific to how we want it. So alot of Car Shops here in texas build street cars that are 100 percent street legal, and race them up against Fully Built drag cars! Nothing more satisfying then to watch a modified 2v Mustang w/ Twin Turbos run 9s, and then you see them driving off on the highway after the track is closed while the other car that ran 11s is still putting their car in the trailor... Beautiful sight!

IMO..... the imports started going down hill (in the U.S.) when they stop calling it import racing and switched to sport compact racing, that gave the domestic big wigs opportunity to kill the imports (especially honda) with factory backed race cars. The small guy can't compete with that.

we break drive shaft and thing home thats how sticky deh track is...

No kidding. This is what my axle shafts looked like after Sunday of Ag Fair weekend, along with some broken teeth on the spider gears in the Sure-grip and there was evidence of the ring gear hitting the housing in the 8-3/4. This is in a 70 Plymouth Road Runner with a 4 speed and slicks. Look closely at the splines on the "intact" axle shaft.

On the opening front. Michelle and I saw Vince Ebbesen, Gary Thomas, James Bates, Miss Vee yesterday. There was no mention of the current status but we were at the memorial service for David Francis, who was very instrumental in getting the track organized in the first place. He was only 57 when he died this September, too young. There were quite a few people from the track there. David Francis was the previous President of the CDRA and the first person we met at the track. He was very helpful to a raw beginner.

now we talking this man makes sense...its been over what 5 years that they"ve been arguing about the return lane and a leveled track....(this is why you won't ever see PRO-STOCK or TOP-FUEL here cause that'd just be suicide) I have a feeling its gona open with little or nuttin done to it.
